Satin Ribbon Solutions

Most have noticed how satin ribbon will go limp in the cooler caused by the humidity. The following are some solutions.

Florist #1: We only use satin ribbon on funeral work, and if we leave the bouquet out of the cooler for even 15-20 minutes before delivery, it will perk back. We use a lot of tulle and wired shear on vases.

Florist #2: Instead of satin ribbon, use poly; it doesn't absorb water and works great.

Florist #3: You can get away from changing the bows on bouquets out of the cooler if you do not have ribbon ends that are long and hanging down too far. We have gone to using tuffs in some of the arrangements or if you do use a bow around the vase, keep the ribbon shorter. Watch the good deals on sheer ribbons and fabric ribbons at the craft stores as they do not go limp.
